Morels are some of the most sought after wild mushrooms in BC, and have a curious life cycle. Morels are facultative symbionts which means for the most part of their lives exist as a fruitless body of mycelium exchanging nutrients with a host tree, once extreme conditions are present, usually the result of a natural forest fire, the Morel reacts to the stimuli and fruits in anticipation of dwindling resources.
The smokey and dense flavour profiles are sought after by discriminating chefs and are popular throughout many cooking styles in North America.
